The X16D: A Commander X16 Case

This is a case for the Commander X16 Development board V2.

Key features:

• Front Panel with Power and Reset Buttons, and indicators for Power and Activity.
• Support for Low Profile Expansion Cards
• Support for side Cartridge
• Support for a 25 Pin D-Sub connector for User Port
• Support for mounting a front facing SD Card

This is a fully functional case, but additional revisions are needed.

Todo:

• Create build documentation
• Create BOM
• Verify Expansion port Shield and add retention mechanism
• Refine I/O Shield
• Motherboard is currently difficult to position with I/O shield in place
• Current design requires larger print beads, some parts will need to be broken into smaller pieces to accommodate more printers.
• Drive Lever retention is currently behind a lid support and inaccessible when front panel is installed
• Button mounts are close to motherboard
• Expansion Shield blocks instillation of cards new plan is needed
• Add front SD mount

Update 3-MAR-24:  Added the Prototype 5 parts.   Prototype 5 is 1CM longer, and has a different mounting solution for the SD card so it can easily be installed after the motherboard is installed, and hopefully does not obstruct the motherboard instillation as much as the previous design.
