Description

One of the rubber feet on my printer fell off in shipping. I wanted to improve upon those and add risers for better airflow into the air intake. So I designed 3 different style feet, Blue's (5mm Riser), Purple's (12.5mm Riser) and Red's (20mm Riser).

Features:

  • Snug drop-in fit in bottom of Eibos Polyphemus
  • Re-uses stock screws to securely attach feet
  • Raises Polyphemus for better airflow to intakes
  • Gives better airflow to stepper motor on the bottom that rotates the spools

Updates:

  • V4 Extended  smaller cylinder 1mm for better fit, top layer on cylinder reduced from .30 to .20mm to better fit circular indent in polyphemus base.
  • V3 Thicker top wall (bumped from 1 to 2mm and added chamfer for screw to sit in place better).

Materials Needed to assemble:

  • (4) screws (that come with Eibos polyphemus)

Print and Assembly Notes:

  • 2 print profiles 5mm and 20mm both print as 4 packs.
  1. Once printed, remove the supports with a small flat head screw driver, the gap should be plenty for them to break and fall out as one piece with a prying motion applied from the bottom.
  2. Remove the rubber feet (you can always reattach them to the bottom of the riser).
  3. Remove one screw at a time, not required, but suggest to thread the screw through the plastic of the riser first, so that just tip of the screw is visible.
  4. Then insert the feet with screw inserted, until it is fully seated and then turn it clockwise until its snug, do not overtighten or else it could strip the threads.
  5. Do this for the other 3 feet and your done.

Print Profile Notes:

Nozzle: Suggest 0.4mm nozzle for precision fit
Wall Loops: 3 wall loops on 0.4mm nozzle, 0.6mm nozzle not recommended due to decreased layer adhesion.
Layer Height: Suggest 0.16 or 0.20mm to maximize strength (0.20mm default)
Infill: 25% gyroid
Brim: None on textured build plate. Consider brim for smooth PEI plate.
Batch Size: For optimum layer adhesion advise printing 2-4 parts at a time to keep layers hot. For large batches (4+) reduce fan cooling. PETG performs worse if layers cool too much, and you risk a layer shift on bed-slingers like A1.
Material: PETG or ABS/ASA (Scale 100.7% for ABS/ASA), PLA would probably be okay, but suggest PETG for functional parts.
Color: Any
Print Orientation: Print with the larger part on the print bed.
Supports: Supports only within hole, can be removed by prying with a small flathead screwdriver. Suggest: Support Object XY Distance 0.5, Top Interface layers 3, Base Pattern Spacing 0.25.
3d Printers: Should be printable on any printer.
Filament amount required: 3.16g per part for 5mm riser, 7.9g per part for 20mm riser
