Description
I recently got into feeding the local birds and noticed that the seed was disappearing suspiciously quick…
I did not want to spend $50 on a squirrel baffle, so I designed and printed one using a $15 roll of PETG!
This model consists of 5 parts:
The Top, Tube Top, and Tube Bottom screw together to make the baffle which fits into the mount.
Mounting: Attach the mount to the pole using 4 m5 screws to clamp the pole in the middle. Ensure that the screws are not too long to prevent the baffle from slotting in! I found these work extremely well and can be screwed by hand (does not include nuts, use standard m5 hex nuts). The top chamfered piece slots in and has designated notches for the screws to fit through. The mount should be placed about 48 inches above the ground.
Material: I used black PETG and printed each piece at around 25% infill. I printed the screw caps at 100% infill. I have limited experience with using PETG for outdoor applications, so I sprayed each piece with Rust-Oleum Gloss Automotive Enamel for the added UV protection.
Print Instructions: Top is the only part that needs supports when printing. Threads of Tube Top may print messy but shouldn't affect fit of pieces.
