Dog Gate Wall Spacer

This simple shape allows a 1/4" (6.35mm) standoff distance from the wall for our dog gate.  

Sheetrock (wallboard / drywall / gypsum) does not really perform well to pressure loads concentrated in a small area (dents easily).  My wife liked the gate design so I had to find a way to make the system better and not constantly chew up the walls.  

This spacer spreads out the load from 35mm diameter to 80mm diameter, a much more stable anchor for something opening and closing as much as it does.  It only stands off ¼" (6.35mm).
