Description
Unique Trident gantry to allow use of the SO3 extruder with no loss of build volume.
Utilizes laser cut plates to increase gantry stiffness.
SO3 is mounted “backwards”, but works just fine in my testing so far.
For no loss in build volume, move the printbed 10mm in the X+ direction. This is because the SO3 nozzle is off center compared to it's overall footprint.
Is this mod worth it? Jury is still out but I am optimistic. Initial input shaper curves are not too shabby.
Is SO3 worth it? It's a quirky little extruder. I had to modify the filament sensor to reduce the large amount of drag it was creating. The wires connecting on the bottom right next to the heat block is pretty inconvenient. So far, I'm not getting the advertised flow rates, but I'm willing to chalk that up to user error until I do more testing. Print quality is excellent, it heats up real fast, it is very easy to disassemble for maintenance.
