TUSA Diving Mask Case - Fexible Joint Replacement

Motivation:

When the original flexible joins of the protection case of my diving mask broke, I simply designed a replacement part to be printed with TPU to get it back working again.

The supports are printed with TPU and can be removed with needle-nose-pliers.

Mechanical Interface:

• See drawing screen-shots
• receptor wall thickness:  2.0mm
• snap hook height:            1.4mm

Print:

Material:        SUNLU TPU 95A red
Printer:           PRUSA MK3S+ with MMU2s (bypassed, filament fed to extruder directly)
Nozzle:           0.4mm
Layer height: 0.2mm

Assembly:

1. Lid and bottom of the case are connected with two fexible joints which are simply fixed with a snap hook on each side.
2. Simply remove the old parts by bending the snap hook and pushing out the parts.
3. Assemble both replacement joints to one part of the case by pushing in the replacements until the snap hook snaps in.
   Orientation: The flexible part of the joint must face to the outside of the case.
4. Push the seconf part of the case into the open side of the joints.
   Push in the joints completely.
   Make sure, both snap hooks snap in.
5. Thats all.

Result:

• The protection case works again!
• Opening requires more force than the original joints, but works fine.
  (The flexible part could be done a little thinner, but I am happy with the result for now.)

Additional Variants:

Derived from this idea I made two variants of the flexible joint with smaller opning forces.
The mechanical interface is identical.
