Most of these files are from others' admirable efforts, please check out the remix links for the originals. I renamed, translated, reoriented and collected various model files from various projects into singular project (please see all remixes for their original licenses - of which I had to comply with the most restrictive of). Some remixes and an original 2040 stabilizer base added to complete the project so you can create an incredibly functional PCB/Wire holder tool set. I have used this set for a couple weeks now and have really been enjoying it. Cheers!
Features beyond the original
- Heavy and very stable base made of 2040 aluminum extrusion and stabilized with printed feet, making this remix suitable for almost any size build plate.
- TPU jaws for the grippers.
- Locking discs for grippers to lock the work in position.
- Wire holder jaws.
- A small box to hold the spares while you are storing the tool.
Some notes on printing
- The STLs are pre-oriented, but…
- The grippers with TPU jaws should be printed on their side with supports enabled. No other part should require support. Highly recommend you print these in a material with the heat resistance of PETG or higher.
- The TPU jaws should be printed so the long length is vertically oriented.
To complete this project as shown you will need the following extra hardware
- A length of 2040 aluminum extrusion (European standard). I went for 250mm length and wouldn't generally recommend much shorter than that unless you are planning on working on exclusively small PCBs. Here is a non-affiliate Amazon link for the extrusion I purchased in the US.
- You will need 2x clothes pin wire. I highly recommend purchasing these from a local second hand shop or dollar store instead of Amazon.
- (Optional) Some foam/rubber/silicone pads or bumpers for the bottom of the extrusion stabilizers. Best to measure this after printing, but the max width would be ~10mm with 2040 stabilizer foot model. I trimmed these pads, and though they have a strong off gassing smell even months later (so I would recommend you store them in a zip lock bag of some sort). Non-affiliate Amazon link for the set I purchased (they are very handy in general).
