Description

American Standard handle adapter, model: M918021-0070A.

This 18-teeth adapter can sit on top of a plastic cartridge, in which case it is secured to the stem of the cartridge with a 3/4" long #8 sheet metal screw. It can also sit on top a metal transfer valve (such as bathtub/shower diverter), in which case it is secured to the metal stem with a 20 mm long M4x0.7 machine screw. Here are some examples of the stems this adapter can sit on top of:

A954120-0070A - plastic cartridge with a ceramic disk
M950070-0070A - brass bathtub/shower diverter

This adapter is necessary for attaching metal handles to the cartridges and valves. Metal handles sit on top of this adapter and are secured to it with a set screw.  Acrylic handles do not require this adapter and are attached directly to the stem. 

See the uploaded parts diagrams for American Standard Colony centerset and shower faucets. Note that the handles for these faucets look similar on the diagrams, but are of different sizes: smaller for the centerset and larger for the shower faucet. The adapter, however, is the same in both cases.

How I printed

I printed with a sampler of Atomic Filament Dark Blue Carbon Fiber Extreme PETG Pro. Layer height was 0.2 mm, nozzle temperature 240℃, bed 70℃, 25% fan, 100 infill. You can see the result in the pictures. It is quite strong at this temperature and fan level, and slightly overheated. I tried boosting the fan to 40%, but that produces weaker parts, so 25% fan is about max for this material. Supports are needed.
