Description

Simply put this is a mount for the BTT Smart Filament Sensor (SFS) v2.0 to the K1 Max that allows for feeding from the side. I'll update the model as I receive feedback.  I haven't tested this on the K1/K1C, but it might fit. I have also made a loop for zip tying your cable out of the way. if you’re using the stock K1 board, just hook up the motion sensing port (green/black) on the SFS to the filament detect port on the main board. If you have a stock K1 max board, you’ll use Black =GND, Red=5V, and  Green= motion detect (PC15). It will still  detect runout because no motion will detected.

Recommended Print Settings

  • 3-5 walls
  • 20-30% infill
  • 1mm top and bottom
  • Outer brim (not required)

BOM

  • BTT SFS v2.0
  • 3 ea. M3x4 or M3x6 screws (should come with the SFS)
  • PTFE tubing - 1m

Tools

  • PTFE cutter or any cutter/blade

Instructions

  1. Print this mount
  2. Unscrew the two corner screws on the back upper right of the K1 Max and set aside.
  3. Align the mount to the holes for the SFS and install 3 ea M3 x 4 or M3x6 screws.
  4. Align the mount to the holes for the K1 Max and install the 2 ea. M3 screws that were removed in step 2.
  5. Connect the SFS with the included cable to the K1 Max. (filament port on main stock board, or endstop connector (MIN) on the BTT Manta series.
  6. Cut a length of PTFE long enough to reach from the SFS to the toolhead and install.
  7. Cut a length of PTFE long enough to reach just before your spool, or just a 2-5 cm piece coming out of the end of the SFS.
  8. Configure klipper printer.cfg using your board’s filament detect port or endstop port.
