Description

This is a selfmade doorbell with smart camera and fingerprint sensor. The camera is a Eufy Doorbell 2K and the Fingerprint sensor an Ekey S-Line. It consists of a printed case in the dimensions of four flush mounted outlets. Therefore the cutout in the wall can be made with a standard 68mm hole-drill. Sensor and doorbell are screwed to the case and a TPU cover is added which contains magnets, holding the front made of 1,5mm painted steel.

Printing:

1x file “Unterputzdose”, I printed in in PETG on my Prusa MK3S+ without support and 20% infill

1x “Namensschild”, printed in transparent PETG with 100% infill. You can either add your name to the 3D file and print it with a color change in a dark color or just put a sticker on top

1x “adapter deckplatte oberteil” and 1x “adapter deckplatte unterteil”, I printed it in black TPU with 30% infill so it sits flush with the steel plate but it can be printed in PETG as well.

Lasercutting (there are several online services offering this):

1x “Blechabdeckung.dxf” lasered from 1,5mm steel. It must be magnetic to hold, so if you choose stainless steel make sure it is a magnetic one. As it's used outside the steel must be painted so it doesn't rust.

Assembly:

  1. Print all the parts and order the steel plate and electric components
  2. Drill the holes in your wall, drill a hole in the case at the place where your cables are and mount the case with cement or expanding foam
  3. Connect the Doorbell with your existing doorbell wires as described in its manual
  4. Connect the Fingerprint sensor with it's cables going to the door controller. If you want to use WAGO 221-2411 connectors there are holders integrated in the case
  5. Screw both in their place
  6. Put the two pieces of the front plate together and glue in the magnets. Insert the name sign and screw it on with four screws and nuts.
  7. Add a piece of LED strip on top of the WAGO holder and connect it to the power of the fingerprint cables
  8. Screw on the frontplate
  9. Add the steel frontplate

What you need to buy:

  • Eufy Doorbell 2K
  • Ekey Fingerprint Sensor S-Line
  • 4x WAGO 221-2411
  • Paint for the steel plate
  • Screws
