Description
This is a model of my brain, as extracted from an MRI scan. It's a bit smooth on the back (lol), but from what I can gather online, that's an artifact of the MRI scan.
This is definitely on the trickier side to print, I chose to split it down the middle and print both halves separately, gluing them together with alignment pins afterward.
This does lead to some minor artifacts at the “seam” though, but these can be sanded down or removed with careful use of a soldering iron.
The MRI scan data was extracted using 3D Slicer and the fantastic plugin Swiss Skull Stripper (what a name). A wonderful guide on how to do this can be found in this YouTube tutorial.
The filament in the photos above is Sunlu Beige PLA+, a fantastic “brain” color.
