Hi

I've reworked the universal mount model I remixed earlier to make it natively compatible with the Neptune 3 and 4 series, I can guarantee the dimensions will fit the 4 and 4 Pro with 20x38.5mm feet, and I think they should fit the rest of the series, but I haven't been able to test that.

Their main purpose is to reduce noise transmitted to the desk, they may also improve print quality through the reduction of the rebound vibrations in the printhead, but I cannot test this scientifically. As a bonus you can use the extra vertical space under the printer to hide some tools.

Update V2:

  • Added coasters to prevent the feet from slipping and add some stability, these should be printed in TPU to get a good surface grip.
Unfortunately I didn't have TPU on hand so I printed mine in PLA+, this defeats the whole purpose of them cause they're still slippery lol, so I'll reprint with TPU later.
    • Shout out to u/DeathCoreGuitar for the cool idea :)
  • Made the top of the ring completely flat, extending further than the notches, compared to V1 which had a flat surface limited by the notches.

The size is NOT adjustable, I modelled it at 75mm wide. If you scale the model up or down, the distance between the notches that prevent the feet from slipping off will be different. I tested 1 mount by pushing the middle of it on a scale and it withstood 10kg of force without failing catastrophically, so the Max versions shouldn't have any problems.

You can print all 4 at once or one at a time. I printed mine in PLA+, but material creep is starting to show within a few weeks, so I'll reprint them in PETG. They'll probably last longer if printed in PETG or something with less stiffness and creep, especially for the larger versions like the Plus and Max.

Pay attention to the position of the seam, if it was in the middle of the arc, it will break when you put the rings together.

Slicing parameters:

- Printer: Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro
- Slicer: Orca
- Filament: AnkerMake PLA+ at 210°C, 0.97 flow and 0.04 PA
- Fan speed: Min 30% Max 40% Overhang 60%
- Nozzle: 0.4mm brass
- Retraction: 1.2mm@50mm/s, threshold 0.5mm
- Wipe: 1.2mm@100%
- Z-Hop: [email protected]
- Layer height: 0.2mm, first layer 0.28mm
- Layer width: 0.4mm with Arachne, first layer 0.44mm
- Seam: Back with 20% gap, no scarf
- Wall loops: 2, Inner/Outer
- Solid infill: Monotonic, same for top/bottom with 2 shells
- Sparse Infill: Gyroid@20%
- Minimum sparse infill: 10mm²
- Speed: 50mm/s for first layer, 150mm/s for outer wall and small walls. 200mm/s for the rest
- Acceleration: 500mm/s² for first layer, 1500mm/s² for outer walls, bridges and top surface. 2000mm/s² for the rest
- Support: Nothing
- Raft/Brim/Skirt: No, but if you had problems, I would greatly suggest using mouse ears and setting up KAMP. Also dial in your Z-Offset

Do I need to re-calibrate anything in the printer?

Yes, you probably need to recalibrate the input shaping. You will only need to recalibrate input shaping after:

  • Modifying the extruder or bed (changing their mass)
  • Changing the belt tension (I recommend using these: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6130503 )
  • Moving the printer to a different table
  • Relocating it on the same table if the table is flimsy
  • Changing the interface between the printer and the table, such as using different feet, concrete slab, etc.

The N4 and N4P don't have built-in accelerometers, I think the Plus and Max do. Even if you don't use these feet, I would strongly recommend adding some accelerometers to the N4 and N4P. Elegoo uses factory calibrated frequencies and they're not really that good. Using a sensor can make the print quality much better, and it's also faster.
To install accelerometers, see this:
