Description
This is an important message for all new Original Prusa XL owners who have yet to acquire an enclosure for their new printer.
DO NOT DISCARD XL PRINTER BOX OR PACKING MATERIALS!
It turns out that, at least in the partly assembled kit, Prusa has already included almost the entire XL enclosure. All that is required is a little imagination, a blade sufficient to cleve cardboard, and a few printed parts.
These models are clips I created for holding cardboard in place on the Original Prusa XL, serving as the aforementioned included enclosure.
Print Settings:
Printer: Orignal XL
Filament: tested in PLA
Layer Hight: 0.25 Structural
Infill: 0%
Exterior Perimeters: 2
Brim: No
Heated Bed: Recommended
Supports: No
Approximated Filament Usage: 5.88m
Approximated Print Time: 49 minutes. This is including all 4 top and all 8 side cardboard clips, using input shaper.
approximated cost: 49 cents using prusa PLA.
In the end, after repurposing the cardboard insert, top of the main box, and the bottom shorter flaps of one of the two subassembly boxes, cutting both so that the long way is 443mm, there is every possibility that you could end up with a functional enclosure for your new XL for less than a dollar in less than an hour.
