Description
After using my Bambu X1 for a month or so it has become clear that lifting the AMS unit off the Top Glass is essential for a couple or reasons. One, the Glass Top gets dirty on the inside surface and to clean it properly I have to remove the AMS to get to it. Two, when I print with PLA the front Glass Door has to be opened. This is not optimal for proper convection. It is too easy to have cool air come thru the front of the machine and affecting first layer adhesion. With this lift kit I can now move the top Glass Panel a second shelf making for proper movement of heat thru the top of the machine. Three, it’s too dark inside the machine and to have additional lighting was desirable. This lift kit solves all these things.
By making this design in pieces creates opportunity to give a nice exterior surface finish on the side pieces, allows me to change parts of this design when I discover new features I want in incorporate. This is the second version I created. The first version was fewer parts but much larger printed size that I bolted together and what I found is the Bambu Lab X1 struggled with vertical accuracy and layer shifts at transitions on such large/tall parts. Going to a modular multi-part design with relatively flat parts improved accuracy, aesthetics and provides opportunity to upgrade portions over time.
Along with .3MF and STL files, I’ve provided STEP files. So, if you want to change fastener type (ie: metric) or use nut pockets instead of heat inserts you can alter the parts to meet your needs.
