Description
vertical HF antenna with optional loading coil
i needed to create a super compact antenna kit utilizing all M10 threads. it enable the user to use the very cheap telescopic whip, loading coil and ground spike at will. those items are commonly used by the PAC-12, JPC-12 and similar antenna kit. very cheap and very popular online. when completed it can cost very little, 20$ for the <14mhz version and a tiny bit more when using the loading coil to reach 7mhz band or so. could also be used as a <30$ alternative for a CHA MPAS type setup either in a Vertical, Dipole or what ever you need.
my version doesnt have any transformer or resistor inside. NO LOSS
this is a resonant antenna and doesnt require a tuner.
BNC connector (or PL-SO connector)
2X Banana plug
10cm length of 14ga copper wire
2X M10 nut
M10 Ground Spike
M10 2.5m or 5.5m Telescopic Antenna
M10 Loading coil (optional)
solder, epoxy glue, some wire
the M10 nut is press-fit against the copper wire, thus making the electrical connection
it is recommended to somehow solder onto the M10 nuts to insure a good electrical connection. it is possible to build it only by squeezing a wire against the nut and the wall, but it might cause corrosion later.
tip: use crazy glue (cyanoacetate) on the inside face of the banana connectors and BNC. it prevent them from unscrewing.
if you use PLA choose a light color to prevent the sun overheating it. another material could be a better choose if you live in a extremely hot climate.
