Description
My MIG gun slowly droops onto the floor when I roll my cart around, so I made this holder and mounted it on the welding cart. It seems to hold the gun well. The tip extends below the bottom, to reduce the potential to melt. The gun can be placed into the holder from any direction, and the holder is stout enough to withstand some abuse.
I made the model in FreeCAD, and included that file and a step file that can be imported into PrusaSlicer.
I printed with 15% infill in ABS, and mounted with M5x8 button head screws tapped into the frame of my welding cart.
I just started using it, but seems to be working well. The relatively large opening makes it easy to put the gun into it even at arm's length from any direction when I pause welding to check my work, as well as being able to hold the gun when I am moving the cart.
Update - I have done several welding projects now and I really like it. Being able to put the gun in from any angle, and having a wide mouth makes this easy to use with my helmet on.
