Description
These are very simple spool tags. They have only two jobs:
There are tags for most filaments, with GF, CF, etc.
While the letters do NOT show up in the 3D preview, they are in the model and will print.
They are quick and easy to print, but the design is in two colours. So, when you import into PrusaSlicer, you want to say YES to the question to keep them as one model.
I would love to know if anyone uses the PEEK tag!
Let me know if you need another label and I will upload as soon as I can.
This is not a filament clip, it is not designed to keep your filament on the roll. It is designed to stop the free end finding a way to make the spool tangle.
Note: These are not filament clips. They do not hold the filament together. They are to keep the filament untangled.
Make the tag for your filament.
Slide it over the filament so you can see the tag from the direction you normally hold the spool. the idea is to make identifying the filament type easy.
Always leave the tag on the spool, this way it makes getting it tangled harder and if it does become tangled, sliding the tag towards the end will show you where the tangle is and how to easily remove it.
I have included files with some common filament types along with a blank tab for you to edit as you like. The PEEK is a luxury item.
This will depend on your machine. I have an XL, so I assign the Tag to one head/colour and the letters to another. You can do the same thing with single head machines, but it is more fiddly.
As each letter is a body in its own right, there is no need to pain colours or nozzles. Simply choose the nozzle for each part of the model.
If you are going to make more than one copy. then do the nozzle assignment before you do the copy and paste. This way you only need to do them once. Get it all sorted out and right and then do the duplicaton.
I print with the letters on the bed. This seems to give the best looking result and makes the wipe tower the smallest.
It makes almost no difference, as the item is very small and will most likely be solid or almost.
Use your defaults and choose 10% or 15% infill.
Make sure to use two contrasting colours. I have used Prusa Galaxy Black and eSun Cool White for my tags and they look really nice.
I have used PLA in the images, but there is no reason not to use PETG or TPU if you like those materials. Good contrast and cost would be my suggestion for material choice.
I have included a Fusion 360 Archive file, which has the original sketches and steps. Each step is not named, but there aren't very many.
If you would like a tag that I have not done, please let me know and I will add it to the collection.
If editing in Fusion 360, the text size ranges from 6mm (PLA, TPU), 5mm (PA12) and 4.7mm (PEEK). That should give you a good idea of the text size.
You can of course, colour each letter individually, for a unique look.
Don't forget you can add a logo or text directly in PrusaSlicer, which should be easy enough to position on the blank tag.
