Dell Optiplex SFF (2015-2020) heatsink 120 mm fan mount

Overview

Adapter for the Dell stock heatsink to a 120mm PWM fan for the Dell Optiplex series 5 (2015-2020). (Check out wikipedia for an overview of optiplex generations). This makes the computer a lot quieter. The fan barely fits, so careful consideration has been put into its positioning. OpenSCAD file included.

Printing

Print in PETG or another heat resistant material. 

No supports needed.

Assembly

1. Remove the stock turbo fan.
2. First attach the fan to the mount with fan screws, because it screws in from the bottom.
3. Plug the fan cable into the motherboard. Make sure the fan is 4pin for fan control.
4. Place the mount on the heatsink. Make sure the side with “TOP” is at the top of the motherboard
5. Screw in the mount to the heatsink using the screws from the turbo fan. There are 4 mounting points but only 3 screws, choose any. The screws can be inserted through the fan blades.
