Description
We use those MEPAL Lunchboxes and one came with an “inside box” that has two compartments but no lid. I guess the idea is that it sits inside well covered by the main lid, such that it may not spill small parts into the main compartment. But if you put some wet stuff in there, the water will spill out in the main compartment and make those things wet as well. On the other hand you may also want to use this compartment box outside of the main box as a “standalone” box and you will need a lid therefore as well.
My first attempt was “JausenBoxDeckel” which took some iterations to have a nice fit, but it is finally a really good lid. The problem with it is, that the compartment box itself is quit a tight fit within the lunchbox, so the addtional space the lid needs is too much to put it inside the lunchbox and close the lunchbox lid.
The second attempt “JausenBoxDeckSplit” solves this by only using the available space allowing to put the box inside the lunchbox AND close the lunchbox lid. If you want to cover the whole box you will need to print this twice.
Though only the second attempt solves my use case the first lid has a right on its own and you can use the box “standalone” with it. So I uploaded both versions.
The dimensions of the lids should provide a good fit, but in the end this of course also depends on your printer. The print orientation should be obvious (the upper lid part on the print bed) for the split lid I used some simple support for the handle area, as this should give a nicer look than trying to bridge that.
For now I printed them with PLA (for all the test prints to get dimensions right), I may print it in TPU some time as well.
As always, I put my FreeCAD files up as well, if you need to adapt it for a lid for a different box, or if you want to make some adjustments to get a better fit.
