Description

This adapter is tested with a motherboard from an Optiplex 3050 SFF, but it should be compatible with any SFF Optiplex motherboard from 2015 or newer. A reference image of a compatible motherboard is included.

Printing

Printed with 20% infill and 4 perimeter walls.

I printed it in PLA, but you should probably print in PETG for temperature resistance.

Mounting

11x 6-32 6mm long screws are needed to mount the motherboard: 6 for mounting the adapter to the case and 5 for mounting the motherboard to the adapter. They screw directly into the plastic, which is fine for supporting the motherboard's weight.

SFF Optiplex motherboards have roughly the same height as Micro-ATX , but they are ~29 cm wide, which is almost as wide as E-ATX. Check the clearance in your case next to the motherboard tray to ensure that the motherboard fits.

Some notes

If you want to move your Optiplex motherboard to an ATX case, there are some things to consider:

  • PSU: Dell uses proprietary 6- and 8-pin connectors instead of the standard 24 pin. You can buy an adapter cable for an ATX power supply or mount an Optiplex PSU in an ATX case using my PSU adapter plate: https://www.printables.com/model/854780-dell-optiplex-sff-power-supply-to-atx-adapter
  • CPU Cooler: Dell uses the standard Intel CPU mounting holes, but Dell coolers mount directly into the case. You should be able to mount any normal cooler for your socket (not too heavy!) and I have also designed a Dell cooler backplate for socket 115x: https://www.printables.com/model/853509-socket-115x-backplate-for-dell-cooler
  • Front IO:  The front IO is attached to the motherboard, so you cannot connect the front IO of your case or reach the built-in ports from outside the case.
  • Power button: Dell also uses a proprietary power button with a 5 pin cable and an RGB LED. You can buy an adapter for this to use your case power button.
