Description
Roll up antennas, radials, or arborist line on a spent 3D filament roll. If you have a 200g filament roll, they are perfect for short antennas, radials, or arborist throw lines. The 1Kg filament rolls can roll up a long antenna or multiple antennas and the arborist line on the same roll.
You'll need one M4x16 screw, two M4 washers, and one M4 nut. I used a M4 nut that is 4mm in height, but the slot should accommodate shorter nuts. If you use short nuts, double up for extra security if you'd like.
Insert the nut into the knob body, and line it up with the screw hole.
Drill a hole slightly larger than the screw into the side of your spent 3D filament roll. Insert the screw and washer from the inside of the roll.
Drop some glue through the nut. I used clear Gorilla glue. Epoxy might be another great option. This will lock the nut in
place once the screw is through so it won't come undone or tighten up.
Place the other washer onto the screw protruding from the 3D filament roll.
Secure the knob to the screw. Do not over tighten it. It should be snug, yet it should spin freely. Let the glue dry or cure before using.
Bonus: Print the “Spool Rider” for your filament roll. You may have to sand the inside of your filament roll if the two sizes of Spool Riders don't seem to fit your roll. The inside diameter of the 200g roll I used is 2.050" (52mm), and the 1Kg roll I used is 2.160" (55mm) in diameter. The Spool Rider will be a tight fit, but should snap into the center of the filament roll with a little elbow grease.
