Description
I needed a ball-jointed handlebar camera mount for gopro/dji type. I have it for the bolt type, so I designed this adapter for it. It is used instead of the bolt-to-ball adapter that goes with many handlebar mounts sold in Aliexpress. The original ball diameter is 15.8 mm. I made it 16.0 mm because the original one slides under the weight of the camera. If you need it for another diameter, you can use my FreeCAD file: open the spreadsheet, edit ball_d value and export the new model to STL. You can also change some other values. The thickness of the plate is set to 3.2 mm which is the best for DJI Osmo Action frame, but some cameras may need 3.0 mm, this value as well as the space between the plates can be also changed in the spreadsheet. Keep in mind that some values may be incompatible with the fillets and chamfers that I made, you can modify or delete them in this case.
I enforced the thickness of the side plates to make them stronger because the DJI camera weights as a brick and the standard thickness is easy to break.
Print both parts without supports and glue them together.
The nut is standard M5.
The bolt was taken from another unused camera mount. If you want to make it from a M5 bolt, you can use this model to make a 3D-printed knob for it.
To say the truth, the model is not perfect because I needed it fast, but if you don't have anything better, it will work. Besides, I want to order an aluminum mount because DJI camera's weight is much higher than that of my previous camera Yi4k, and I think it needs some stronger solution.
