Description
A must have item for any aspiring designer. The 10 icons on this dice summarizes Dieter Rams' “10 Principles of Good Design”. He is one of the 10 most influential Product Designers of all time, along side with the Jonathan Ive (the chief design officer at Apple).
Have this on your desk, so you can familiarize yourself with his 10 principles. These principles are as relevant today as when it was conceived, it even influenced some of the Apple products today (read about it at Wired).
Dieter Ram's ten principles are:
The pictures shows two version. The black and white is the “Flush” version, where the mark and the surface is flushed. The green and red is the “Emboss” version, where the mark is indented.
The model is 47 x 47 x 47 mm. You can scale it down for faster printing. Scaling it to 70% will roughly half the print time.
Printing Notes:
For the Emboss version, use only the TopTrapezohedron.stl and BottomTrapezohedron.stl files (prints in 57 minutes using 0.3 mm layers). To print the mark in a different color, just change the filament after printing the first 2 layers (prints in 1 hour). If you do the two color emboss version, it is recommended that you use the darker color on top, otherwise the inner color will show through.
It's easier to create the two halves separately first, wait for the glue to dry before joining the two halves. Also, if you don't want to hold the model together while the glue is drying, just use a few rubber bands.
