Description
A mod of the Recreator 3D Mk6 fun size that can fit the stock ender 3 PSU. I have increased the length of the side wall pieces, top and bottom to accommodate a stock PSU from an Ender 3 or possibly a comparable printer.
Initially, I just wanted to make use of more of the parts that I harvested from a donor Ender 3 pro that I got to make a filament splicer. However, after posting this into the recreator3d discord to see what people thought of it, several fellow members made the suggestion that it could be used to mount both an Mk6 recreator pull-trusion setup and a meld filament splicer on the same machine if the right main board was procured for the project.
Currently, you'll need a printer with a bed size of at least 252X252mm, the PSU from the Ender 3 is quite long and takes up the entire length of one dimension of my Bambulab P1S. This is unfortunate for most because that is simply too big. I know, and I intend to investigate making it smaller so a bed of 240X240 can print it. Stay tuned for that. My tests with it so far have been in PLA, I don't think anything fancy is required of these parts in particular.
The hardware you will need is the same as if you were to build a recreator Mk6 and the Meld “top hat”. The full bill of materials for the Mk 6 and Meld can be found on their respective printables pages in the download section here and here.
Yup, the only parts here are the modified ones, you'll need to grab the rest of the part files from the recreator3d Mk6 page, which you can find below as I have created this listing as a remix.
V1.0.1 - Added spool holder notch to front and back of left panel.
V1.1 - Modified parts so they will fit on a 240 X 240mm print bed
V1.1.2 - Fixed incorrect hole size in the base for PSU, and added holes for side panels in the correct location.
V1.3 - Fixed many issues, and increased overall finished build length to accommodate both meld and mk 6 simultaneously. Added modified front and back pieces to keep part length below 256. Added mounting posts for Melzi v2 boards. The Left and right panels were made a little thinner to accommodate the Ender 3 pro-PSU width properly. Base and top part sizes were increased back to ~250mm original mk 6 pulltrusion parts didn't fit next to meld on smaller size. Side panel thickness reduced to 18mm to be more flush with the LCD mount component opening. Added missing hole for power supply connector mounting screw.
I am just making a cool mod for cool people, check out the Recreator3d printables page, website, and discord for more info!
