Description
This project is based on the great WLED software. So first of all I would like to thank the people behind WLED. Thanks for the great software. https://kno.wled.ge/
I made some other WLED projects and this is my new one.
The LED Cubes.
First of all, if you want to get involved with these components, you should have some experience with WLED and soldering. This project also requires some time and filament if you want to realize something larger.
If you're building a project like this, you should have some knowledge of electronics and make sure you're doing everything right. I am not liable for errors or damage.
Here is a description of how this project was built.
Step 1:
First remove the adhesive strip from an LED strip you want to use. Then cut the strip into individual LEDs with a scissor. Print enough connecting terminals, you will need a lot.
Step 2:
Print LED cubes and mark the direction of the LED. Now place the LED with the top side down and attach the LED to the cube with a hot glue gun.
I recommend that you apply solder to the LED contact surface beforehand.
Step 3:
Now cut out any gaps that are not on the outside of your project. You need the gap for the cable and connectors. I recommend a small saw but you can also cut it out but be careful not to break the cube.
Step 4:
Think in advance what type of pattern you would like to build and print out the parts you need an connect them together. Here is a small example. Use different heights of the colorful cubes to create some depth.
Step 5:
Now connect all the LEDs with cables and connectors and add the electronics box. To hang your project on the wall, use the wallmount connector instead of the small connectors.
The wallmount has a small bar that you have to remove. It only serves as a support when printing. You can also use double-sided adhesive tape if your project is not too big.
Thats it, no support needed. Everything is printed with Extrudr NX2 PLA.
Hope you like it,
Enjoy
