Description
BEE HOTEL (HOUSE)
Originally I designed these in Tinkercad and printed around 6 of these small bee hotels that I hanged down from various trees in the garden. I printed these out on an Ender 3 using PETG. After experimenting with temperature settings I found that a 250deg nozzle temperature is preferable to the default of 230deg. Also the bed temperature was set at 70degree on a glass bed.
The following settings should work in any slicer program.
Infill Density - 10% , Infill Pattern - Grid (or another similar one like honeycomb if available)
Top layers - 0
NOTE: Increasing Infill Density reduces hole sizes (adjust this to get sizes you want)
Size is 90mmX90mm (adjust to your requirements).
The models I have put up are an improvement on the first batch and were designed in onshape. I am experimenting with various infill patterns (including honeycomb) and trying both PLA and PETG on various printers.
I included 2 variants (hang down attachment only and a combination of screw in and hang down attachments)
For the screw in variant use a modifier cube to select the screw in bottom part and add 3 or 4 top layers to the modified part.
Good luck printing and attracting bees to your garden.
