Description
This is a version of my design for AA batteries, available here. It features two improvements to the AA casing: a slightly higher resilient element and a single hole instead one of the the grooves on the negative side.
A battery box designed for a single AAA battery, capable of being combined in sets. Both alignments are possible: parallel (with all positive terminals on one side) or serial (with positive terminals alternating). No springs are needed; it utilizes PLA resilience to maintain good contact, requiring only a wire as depicted in the attached images.
When inserting battery: put PLUS side first.
Caution: Due to the specificity of each printing environment, sliding elements may require some adjustment. For my Prusa MINI, there is a 0.3mm size difference between parts (as reflected in the included files).
I have tested this design with batteries from four different manufacturers. In certain instances, a slightly larger plus side hole may be necessary. However, I maintain the design in its current state to ensure a snug fit for improved grip.
The PLA used for the pictured elements is PRUSA Mystic Green.
Update - September 2024
As pointed out by @DanSylveste, the provided files were optimized to fit two holders for a specific setup: PrusaMini+ with PLA.
I’ve decided to share the source files, including the Fusion360 file, with an added parametric setting for the gap.
You can now adjust the gap to the best value for your setup by going to Modify > Parameters > User Parameters and changing the tolerance_fit value.
Now you can set best value for your environment in Modify/Parameters/User Parameters: tolerance_fit
Recommended values (tested by myself):
• PrusaMini+, PLA: 0.30mm (this was the setting used when the model was first published)
• BambuLab X1C, PLA: 0.15mm (this value is included in the new .stl file)
Additionally, based on feedback from other users, I’ve added a hole at the bottom to make it easier to push out the battery.
