Description

Having completed the lights I intended on using in our silent auction, I wanted a way to display them on the auction table. So I drew up a telescoping arm with a peg that emulates the push-pin/nail that I design all my boxes to hang off of - if your box has a hole larger than 7mm diameter, this should hold it!

This stand is capable of locking in 1" increments between 6" and 13" and will extend up to 15" if unsecured. I made mine from PLA+ and I've put two of my heaviest boxes on top of one (over 500g/1lbs) and it did not collapse, however I would not suggest that much weight or more.

Assembly is easy - a little CA glue holds the lid piece on the inner shaft (the peg faces the holes in the shaft). Once cured lift up on the tab on the middle shaft to fully insert the inner shaft. Repeat the process for the middle/outer shaft. The tabs are intended to bend, but please take caution to not extend them too far! They only need to clear the shaft they lock against and do not need to move more than a few millimeters. Tolerances are extremely tight on this build, usually only 0.2mm between pieces!

Use is the same in reverse - lift up a tab and pull up on the lid. The middle shaft extends 3" while remaining lockable; the inner shaft an additional 4". Insert the bottom in to the receiver on the base and you're done!

A carefully tuned printing profile is available over on Makerworld.

Bonus component:

I had initially made a print-in-place stand that had fold-up feet. While it does work, it was a little more wobbly than I cared for even after a few revisions. I'm including it as well because it's a fun print, but I do not suggest it for long-term use or use in a busy environment (like a convention sales table).
