Description
Hey team,
I've put together a simple, “stumpy” half inch socket wrench to help people get a socket into those hard to reach places in engine bays. In my case I had to remove a 12mm bolt from the rear intake of an R32 Nissan Skyline GTR.
The alternative in these cases is generally to cut and modify an existing ring spanner or something similar to suit the need, but this is time consuming and doesn't always succeed. Mechanics will know exactly what I'm talking about.
With regards to printing, I decided on a gyroid infill of 25% and 8 external layers to give it sufficient strength. I also set the seem position to be at the rearmost point of the ‘handle’ so this reduced the chances of splitting. With regards to orientation, please place the object on the side as per images attached so that the filaments will oppose twisting and snapping.
Hopefully this is handy for somebody out there :-)
Cheers
