Description
The Falcon2 Pro laser cutter & engraver is a great machine. But they really botched the bed of the machine – the slats are a horrible, wobbly mess! So any engraving with fast Y-movement will jiggle the workpiece. Especially bad if the machine is on a wobbly table or something. Even on a concrete floor, the air-assist is enough to cause wobble.
I designed this piece which can be 3d printed OR laser cut. It goes between each pair of slats and presses them apart from each other so they are pinned against opposing sides of the slots they sit in. The slats are still fairly long and deflect if you push them in the middle, but they won't wobble from light vibrations or air-assist forces.
I used 3 stabilizers on each side of the machine, which stabilizes all but the 3 most rear slats. Good enough for me. As long as most slats are stable, the piece will be properly supported.
NOTES:
This assumes the every-other-slot positioning of the slats (sparse positioning). I don't have a version for dense positioning.
If you want to create a variant of this design, know that the design assumes 20mm center-to-center spacing of slats, and 15.6mm space between slats for a tight fit.
