Description
This is a fully working, 3D printable camera lens lid for a lens with a 54mm diameter.
(If you want another diameter, either remix it yourself (for small changes like 56mm diameter just upsizing the model appropriately seems to work) or leave a comment and I might do it ^^)
I recommend printing the spring in ASA or something else that doesn't creep as much under constant load. The other parts are free to print with whatever you find the most aesthetically pleasing.
The print orientation of the lid also makes it easy to add customization like your name.
The two sliders and the small protrusions on the lid need support material if you print all files in the orientation given (which looks the best in the end). See the .gcode files for more information (I haven't tested them, but they should work. I already deleted the original .gcode file which I printed).
Order of operations to get everything together:
- Get rid of all support material.
- Do a test fit of all parts separately, you may need to file down some of the contact areas. It is tight by design because some contact areas will be rough because they need support and they should be filed down anyways to allow for a smooth operation.
- Make sure the small teeth on the sliders mesh well with your camera lens (print these selectively or the whole slider with a layer height of 0.1 or smaller for that).
- Put a bit of glue on the small block in the center of the lid.
- But the springs onto the block.
- Slide the sliders in, you will have to move the springs up a bit so that their oval pins fit into the sliders, no glue is needed here since they are sloped in a way that they shouldn't come loose over time.
- Done ^^
