Description

OVERVIEW

This series of funnels is designed specifically with single use, or single material use in mind.

The word ‘disposable’ does not conjure up positive thoughts in this day and age, however the intent is that they can be used for a short term or as an economical way of quickly producing a specialised tool where the circumstances require it.  

The fluted sections on the funnel are not there for entirely aesthetic purposes, they provide additional rigidity, and more importantly are designed to keep filters away from the surface for better filtration, and on the outside they double as ventilation airways working in the same way ribbing does to prevent air lock.

All of the funnels below have a 60° wall angle for efficient filtration, and most are sized to hold standard filters.    

A custom fitting “Buchner style” filter will be available in the next few days or hours (the link will be here and below)

If this doesn't suit because you are looking for a more durable, but equally customisable solution check out my BETTER VENTILATED FUNNEL - PARAMETRIC.  There, if you wish you can duplicate the sizes below, and even modify the wall thickness as desired.

PARAMETRIC VERSIONS

You are able to change the top diameter, stem diameter, stem length, and even (with some caution) the funnel angle and download a model to suit your own particular purpose.
While I have included a large selection of styles and sizes, they are completely and simply customisable by downloading the SOURCE FILES  document and following the instructions.

PRINTING RECOMMENDATIONS

They have been designed to be printed in vase mode, and I have had consistently great results printing with a 0.4 nozzle and a 0.6 extrusion width using either PLA or PETG.

I suspect that diameters above 150mm may become less durable, but I have not printed larger than that.

 

FUNNEL MODELS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

If you can't find a funnel to suit, it's really easy to take advantage of our parametric file.

The general purpose funnel model is dimensioned to match the default dimension of all my other parametric designs, and is the base drawing linked in the Source File download.

 

 

The two “disposable” funnels are no more or less “disposable” than all of the other funnels in this collection.  They are based on commonly available sizes and are sized to suit 110 and 125 filters.   Please note that all dimensions are OUTSIDE, so you will have to subtract your wall thicknesses if internal dimensions are important to you.

 

 

Analytical funnels normally have a truncated spout - these do not, and note that at the spout outlet there is a small return to improve durability.   If this is a problem it is easy to either snap off the last few layers or to cut off the angle in your slicer.

Dimensions are quite arbitrary and based on an amalgamation of catalogue sizes, however standard filters should work.

 

 

Media funnels have relatively larger stem diameters to assist the flow of powder, grain or more viscous fluids.  They can be great for jams and conserves as well, but don't forget they definitely are not suitable for hot sugary substances!
