Practical Seedling Trays

Seed Starting Trays designed for 3D printing. 

Problem: 
While it's easy to find seed starting trays online, most designs don't account for challenges posed from 3D printing the seed trays. First and foremost, most designs don't have an easy way to remove the soil and root knot; A storebought tray is generally flexible, allowing you to wiggle and push the block loose, while 3D printed trays usually have a hard bottom with a single small drainage hole, making removal fiddly, not to mention traumatic for the plant.

Solution:
Design seedling trays with removable bottom plates and better drainage, optimized for 3D printing. Simply place the tray on a flat surface and add bottom plates. Shake tray gently across the surface and most plates should fall into place. Add soil and use as normal, when seedlings are ready, slowly push up against bottom plate with a finger and the intact root-ball should easily slide out.
