Description
This iPhone charger hides under a kitchen cupboard and folds down when you need it. It incorporates an Apple MagSafe charger, so the phone is magnetically attached. Additional magnets hold the arm in either the raised or lowered position.
My kitchen cupboard fronts extend 56mm below the shelf, so that's how much space the charger uses. You may need to modify the model if yours are significantly different.
I modeled this in Fusion 360. I've included the .f3d and .STEP files so you can remix this as needed.
2 M3x25mm socket head machine screws
4 #8 wood screws, 1 ¼ inch length, Metric 4x30mm should work, I think.
I used PETG with 0.2mm layer height and otherwise default settings. Supports are needed on the flip piece under the hinge.
Assembly tips. Press the magnets in with a blunt tool – I used a T-handle hex key wrench – being sure to get the polarity right. They should be tight and hold without glue. To insert each nylon locknut, I inserted a longer M3 screw, screwed a nut onto the screw, then pulled the nut into its hole with the screw. The charger disk is a tight press fit. Leave just enough slack in the charger cord to reach when the flip is open, and check that the cord fits in the cavity when the flip is closed.
