Note: Still work in progress as of this date. If you want different magnet sizes please request. I only use 5mm Magnets for most of my projects, but I am happy to add other sizes if you'd like.
Progress:
- 5/23/24: Print original fan cover realize how turbulent the air is and the work began
- 5/25/24: V1 - V5.2 were created. Air flow is much better (refer to pictures)
- More magnet sizes and ABL adjustments to come! Please comment on what magnet sizes you'd like to see and what probe mounts you'd like.
- 5/26/23: Added different magnet options all still 5mm wide.
Differences from original model (what this was remixed from)
- No sharp corners where the air flows (air doesn't like hard turns)
- Air actually creates a pressure directly under the nozzle not 2mm below it.
- Has a separate mounting plate if you are using a CR touch all you need instead is a shorter magnet.
- Has different magnet sizes
- Doesn't have different fan sizes (I've never even seen a 2510 Axial fan in my life)
- STEP file is truly complete
- Radial fans are special and don't have a constant pressure output across the entire outlet so I've optimized where that should be so that both outlets have the same pressure.
Printing requirements
- Requires some support, Less than original model.
- ASA or ABS or any other high temp material. Maybe PETG, definitely not PLA
- Finer layer heights are preferred for less turbulent air-flow
Parts Needed
- 5015 radial fan
- 3010 axial fan
- Magnets (Depends on what style you choose)
- 2 M3 x 20 screws to mount 5015 fan
- 4 M3 x 12 screws to mount 3010 fan
Installation
- insert the 8 magnets, should be a slight press fit
- be sure magnets are on the correct way so they attract (ie. cover has N and mounting bracket has S)
- Remove cover to access hot end assembly
- remove the two screws holding the hot end assembly
- slide mounting plate onto where the hot end assembly sits. it should slide over the two standoffs
- reinstall hot end assembly
- wire the two new fans
- install fans into cover
- slide over on
- make sure cover is slightly above the base of the nozzle
- if cover is below nozzle a new mounting bracket will need to be made to lower it.
