Description

 Quick and dirty filament sensor

The design revolves around putting together a filament sensor, with cheap, easy to source, and very likely alway present at home components, especially for 3d printer hobbyists.

This can be used in octoprint with any of the sensing plugin's Octoprint-Smart-Filament-Sensor, Filament Sensor Reloaded etc.

Design Features

 

  • 50 minute print
  • Fillets present, no brims required.
  • No supports required. The only area that needs to be supported already comes with micro-blob type of supports.
  • Pleas use an exacto knife or screwdriver to prop them out
  • Filament threading window on the cover
  • Already threaded m3 screw receptables, no nuts required.
  • Users may connec the switch directly to a cable or use a PCB standoff for a JST 3Pin female connector mount.

Assembly instructions

  • Please remove the supports from the PCB slot. 
  • Cut a 3 lines 4 rows veraboard
  • Solder the switch to two of the lines.
  • Slot the PCB into the slot.
  • Push the JST connector into place and solder it to lock the assembly into place.
  • Put the lid on.
