Leadscrew Vise

A useful project vise, capable of holding work securely with minimal flex.  The jaws are 75mm wide, 30mm tall, and max opening is 100mm.

Requires the following hardware:

• 1x 8mm, 2 start, 4mm pitch lead screw & matching brass nut
• 12x M4x25mm socket head cap screw
• 4x M4x16mm socket head cap screw
• 2x M4x10mm socket head cap screw
• 4x M3x10mm button head cap screw

The model is designed to print at 0.2mm layer height, with 4 perimeter walls and 35% triangle infill.  I used brims and buildplate-touching tree supports at 85 degrees for the recess in the dynamic jaw.  Print outer wall first to keep dimensions accurate; clearances are tight.

Jaw play can be fine tuned by sanding down or shimming the angle block where it attaches to the bottom of the dynamic jaw.  I recommend checking the fit in 0.05mm increments.

The leadscrew should be cut down to around 170mm. I recommend grinding the end flat and putting a 45° bevel around the edge before trying to thread it into the plastic pieces.
