Description
For the Bambu Lab AMS, it makes sense to use a spool weight for almost empty and very light filament rolls so that the spool remains on the rollers of the AMS while the filament is being fed. For example the spool weight with integrated silica gel container from humebeam, https://www.printables.com/de/model/412101-adjustable-spool-holder-for-silica-gel-spool-weigh, is ideal for this purpose.
For PLA/PLA+ I mainly use filament from SUNLU. The SUNLU spools have a very large inner diameter (just like the GIANTARM and GEEETECH spools). Too large for many of the spool weights available here on Printables and the part from humebeam does not fit perfectly in the SUNLU spools either. I have therefore created my own version of a spool weight.
My spool weight is designed to be used with a round desiccant container, with a diameter of 50mm.
I use the silica gel spool containers from gdrag, https://www.printables.com/de/model/65922-silica-gel-spool-container, which I also use for dry storage of filament rolls. This makes it easier for me to always have a few fresh, filled containers on hand and to quickly replace them in the spool weight if necessary.
But of course you can take other things to use as a weight in the inner compartment, for example batteries.
