Description
These glasses are great for the Fourth of July or any time you are feeling extra patriotic.
The face of the shades print flat on the bed with no support. This is a multicolor model and you will need an MMU or equivalent to print them in good old Red, White and Blue. I noticed when slicing it can be difficult to get every portion of the stars blue. Double check from multiple angles that you covered the entire field. White portions of the flag are left open for visibility of course. The frame is intended to be white but if you want to experiment with other colors go for it. You can see my included gcode for a pre colored version of one or two faces.
The arms only have one STL file it is the left side arm. To make the Right side arm duplicate it and mirror it in the slicer. They can print on the large flat side but I have found that they can break around the rivets in this orientation. Printing on edge with a small amount of support makes for stronger arms. See my included gcode for how I print the arms, there is one pair and two pair options. The arms can be Red, White or Blue to fit the theme. If you want to get fancy try to purge into the arms while printing the face it might add a cool effect wile reducing waste.
For Rivets I use a small piece of filament and form heads with a soldering iron. See my Rivet Cutter Tool for more pictures and information about the rivets.
As with my other glasses people often ask if you can see through the glasses. This pair has particularly poor vision. The left eye is especially obscured because you are looking through the field of stars. The vision is fine enough for walking around and interacting with most objects. However for any activity requiring high visibility or dexterity you will need to remove the glasses. But hey, these glasses aren't about perfect visibility, they are about looking cool. And In my opinion they are pretty dope.
