Layering Siphon

This is the second iteration of the mini layering siphon for making layered shots.  It utilizes a self-starting siphon, that starts when the correct amount of fluid is poured into the fluid reservoir.  Once the siphon starts the fluid is siphoned to the bottom of the shot glass.  If compatible fluids of different densities are poured in the correct order, they should form perfect layers.

This design improves considerably on the Mk I.

Usage Instructions

For a perfect two layer shot:

  1. Place the layer siphon onto a shot glass.
  2. Pour a less dense liquor (top layer) into the siphon up to the fill line.
  3. Watch as it is siphoned into the shot glass.
  4. Pour a denser liquor (bottom layer) into the siphon up to the fill line.
  5. Watch as it is siphoned to the bottom layer.
  6. Remove siphon and enjoy responsibly.

Layering Siphon Print Settings

Orientation:
On its side with vent pipe towards the build plate and hanging hook at the top.

Filaments:
Fiberlogy PCTG Pure & Navy Blue (lettering)
MatterHackers PLA Grey (support interfaces)

Supports:
Organic PCTG with PLA interfaces, on built plate only.

Infill:
Should not matter, but Gyroid (15% density) with clear PCTG looks nice.

Three Layer Adapter:

The layering siphon can also make 3-layered shots by adding the 3-layer adapter.

Usage Instructions

For a perfect three layer shot:

  1. Insert the 3 Layer Adapter into the layering siphon.
  2. Place the layer siphon onto a shot glass.
  3. Pour the least dense liquor (top layer) into the siphon up to the fill line.
  4. Watch as it is siphoned into the shot glass.
  5. Pour a denser liquor (middle layer) into the siphon up to the fill line.
  6. Watch as it is siphoned to the bottom of the glass.
  7. Pour the densest liquor (bottom layer) into the siphon up to the fill line.
  8. Watch as it is siphoned to the bottom layer.
  9. Remove siphon and enjoy responsibly.

Three Layer Adapter Print Settings

Orientation:
Inverted with “3-Layer Adapter” lettering against the build plate.

Filaments:
Fiberlogy PCTG Pure & Navy Blue (lettering)

Supports:
None

Infill:
Should not matter, but Gyroid (15% density) with clear PCTG looks nice.
