Description

When children begin to ride their own bike, they sometimes get tired quite unexpectedly during cycling tours or walks. Therefore you need to have a possibility to transport their bike when they change into the trailer. So I made these clips which mount a child's bike onto the back of a Thule Chariot trailer.

When I tried an already existing model, I learned that some 16 inch bikes are too long to simply hook them onto the back bar, because their rear wheel would touch the ground. Woom bikes seem to be shorter, but our Specialized is definitely too long. So I made two models: one for small bicycles or balance bikes up to 14 inch (and some 16" models) and one for larger bicycles with 16-18 inch wheels (I haven't tried larger yet)

  • The model for small bikes (10-16") consists of two hooks which clip onto the rear bar of the trailer and simply hold the bike's handlebar
  • The model for larger bikes (16-18") consists of one bracket in the middle which holds the lower bar of the bicycle frame. The bike's handlebar need to be strapped to the trailer's handlebar as seen in the pictures. I made two versions of the large model: for 30mm and 36mm frame width.

Both models should be printed in PETG 0,2mm structural preset with 5 perimeters (ABS, ASA or PA/Nylon should also work). Support is only required for the large model as shown. These mounts look quite lean compared to similar solutions, but they are very stable and clip tightly onto the rear bar of the trailer while being easily attachable and detachable:
