Description

Are you using the CrealityPrint slicer for one reason or another and would like to have the printing stop automatically at the right point?  If so, then with these instructions it is possible. If you don't use that slicer, you probably don't have this problem, but you can use the model to test the tolerances (the model inserts are without tolerances for the M8 nut and the 6700 (10x15x4) bearing). If you want to add tolerance to the ToleranceTest model, by scaling the diameter of the bearing hole increases by 0.15mm and the diameter of the nut holes by approx. 0.13mm for every one percent. Without tolerance, placing the inserts probably requires a relatively high amount of force (at least it did with my own printer).

In the slicing settings (as shown in the picture), CrealityPrint offers the possibility of multi-color printing and stopping printing, but at least for me, this feature is still not in use today/does not really do anything, maybe someday.

So let's forget about this option for now and go with the method that works (ie adding stops to the gcode).

STEP 1:

Slice the model with the settings you want, which you want to print (in this example we choose Insert test, multi-color printing works the same way), if you add inserts, do not use automatic supports.

STEP 2:

Now that we have sliced the model, we look at which layers we want to pause. As we can see in the picture below, we select the G-CODE tab on the preview tab instead of COLOR SHOW.

Then we scroll through the layers with the selector until we see the layer where we want to pause. (In our example, the layer when we start printing on top of the insert).

We look at the layer number on the right in the g-code and not at the bottom (this is because the slicer shows us different layer numbers than the printer, because the layers may start with the number 0 or even negative, depending on the settings) In our example, we see that in the g-code we are on layer 31, while the printer shows us that we would be in layer 32.

STEP 3:

Instead of pressing LAN Printing, press Export to Local and save the file to a location of your choice. After that, we open the gcode file with Notepad or a similar text processing program. Use CTRL+F to find the layer where we want to pause. Click the cursor on the LAYER XX line at the end of the line and press enter, then write PAUSE on this new line. Do the same for all layers where you want to pause. Finally, save and close the file.

STEP 4:

Open your modified gcdode with crealityprint slicer. In order to find the file, remember to change the file format to gcode instead of mesh file as in the picture below.

Now you can see on the preview tab that G-CODE has a new line "pause" next to the desired layer.

STEP 5:

Print the file and wait for the printing to pause at the right point. When printing is paused, do what is necessary (add an insert, change a different color filament etc.). Note that now you can see (in this example) that the printing is paused at layer 32, even though it was added to layer 31 in the gcode (this is because the first layer is number 0, so the pause happens at exactly the right point).

Before you continue printing, check that the nozzle is not leaking/filament is not hanging from it (if filament is hanging from the nozzle, remove the excess filament before continuing so that it does not interfere with printing).

At the end:

Multi-color printing is done in exactly the same way. (That is, by adding a pause to the necessary points in the gcode according to the previous instructions).

So, in summary, in the InsertTest model you need to add a pause to layers 31 and 57. In the MulticolorTest model, you need to add a pause to layers 10, 20 and 30. That is, if the first layer is numbered 0. However, check with your own slicer in which layer you want to add inserts or change the color.
