Description
I like the design of the suet ball holder by @ivyMike, as his design allows to feed fatballs to the birds without the commonly used nets around the suet ball. Those nets are dangerous for small birds and unnecessary waste. So it is good if you don’t need those nets.
I have already remixed his design for use with Birdfy camera (Birdfy bamboo). But I wanted a universal, classic suet ball holder, hanging style, to hang those suetballs on the treebranches in our garden.
Thus I had to design a roof (with some textlabel, so the birds know it’s for them) and modified the ball by putting it upside down and adding a perforated bottom half.
I printed it in PETG for it is for outdoor use (UV light exposed).
20% Infill
no supports needed for printing
I connected the roof with the top half of the ball with a 3mm stainless steel hexbolt and a M3 heat inserted thread. You can just glue them together with superglue if you donˋt have those metal parts. The roof has an indentation that fits the top part of the ball For better fit.
I designed a different birdfeeder suet ball mount for those who own a Birdfy feeder cam you can find on printables:
