Description
This is a Pantograph. It is used to copy a drawing at a scale, usually 50% (1/2). Simply follow the contour of the object or drawing to duplicate it at scale. Can be use to follow the contour of a part to transfer it on paper at scale.
Available in 3 dimensions: 200mm, 250mm, 300mm. Pick the correct one as per your printer size. The pieces are already oriented in the optimal direction.
Design to work with a sharpie marker. There is an adapter for a wood pencil. Can reproduce a drawing at 50%, 33%, 25%, 16.7% (1/6) scale. The pencil and the follower can be exchanged to scale the drawing to 200%, 300%, 400% and 600%.
This design can be printed with any nozzle size and any layer height. This specific make is the 200mm, tolerance 0.1mm. It was done with a 0.5mm nozzle at 0.25mm layer height on a Prusa MK4 with PM matte back PLA.
No hardware required. No support required. Easy assembly. The tolerance between moving parts is 0.1mm, 0.2mm or 0.3mm (zip file). Any sloppiness will be transferred to the drawing. I can produce a higher tolerance model on request.
*Update* A tolerance test is now available.
Ambidextrous: can be assembled to the right or the left side. Every pieces are symmetrical.
Please, don't use silk PLA or any brittle PLA. Regular or matte PLA, PLA+, PETG, ABS/ASA works perfectly.
It is preferable to tape down the pieces of paper. If possible, clamp/tape the base to the work surface.
To assemble: Place the base on the table. Attach the A Piece to the base. Attach the B Piece to the end of the A piece with the Foot (B over A). Attach piece C the middle of the A Piece (C over A). Attach the D Piece to the middle of the B Piece (D over B). Put a pencil or a sharpie to the intersection C and D (D over C).
Please leave makes, comments and suggestions, I do actively maintain this model. DM me if you need the same model with different tolerance or the pencil holder with a different dimension.
