Description
Made another riser that places the feet at the very back so even when the iPad is tilted all the way back it doesn't overbalance the keyboard and fall backwards even when touched firmly with you fingers.
This is based on my previous model, but the danger to the screen from the clips kept bothering me so I built a version of my feet that don't use the clips at all. Just the riser feet now are grabbed on to the curve of the keyboard and supporting it without danger when closing the lid.
There is a beam that connect the two feet. I made two version of the beam. The Solid one should slide together with a bit of pressure. It likely won't come a apart but you can glue it if you want it more secure.
The L/R versions use a rubber band. This has two functions. The main function is to grab onto the keyboard with just enough pressure they won't easily fall off if you lift or move the ipad keyboard around. The beam version likely won't stay attached. Â The second function it to let you fold it (if done carefully so the rubber band doesn't come off.) and reconnect them easier for storage. I made the rubber band slot fairly long to support bigger rubber band sized since small ones a can be hard to find. The rubber band should be about 7cm when squeezed flat and with no tension. UPDATED 11-24-2024 Had issues with the rubber band and the strength of the little tabs to hold the rubber band. Updated the model to stronger, easier to thread beam.
Again I offer multiple size feet. I only show the 4 attached in the photos, but I also show how 4, 5, 6 and 7 compared. There are sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. I didn't move over the size 1 from the original model since I think it's just too low. Size 7 Is actually feeling like my favorite right now after initial testing, but maybe you don't want so much so I offer options.
The feet slide right onto the beams, again with some pressure so not likely to come off. If you have issues here you might want to glue them on once you settle on your size.
Each riser is angled at the bottom to fit the angle of the keyboard so it will lie flat on the surface, with our without the TPU feet. You can use the risers perfectly fine without the TPU feet, but with them you get a bit more purchase on smoother surfaces. The TPU feet extend just a tiny bit past the base plastic. They push right into the risers and will not come out. No glue required.
The riser feet should require no supports if printed as uploaded. The Beams need supports, tree supports suggested.Â
