Description
I really enjoyed the original model by Severeon,
and I wanted to print it for a friend. However, I found it a little difficult to assemble without my tools (I'm just not sure what tools this friend has available to them), and I didn't wanna risk them breaking the parts while trying to assemble it.
So, I tried just redesigning it to fix some of the issues I had to clean up to build it myself.
Note that this model still has fairly tight tolerances for a friction fit. You should still use any of your normal “x/y offset” settings in your slicer, and you may still need clean up any spots where there're obvious print artifacts.
In order to get a satisfying “drop” of the blade, I recommend printing the blade fairly solid (or adding weight!) and/or adding a tiny amount of lubricant to the sliding portion, if you have it :)
For the print in the photo, I used “Kexcelled” brand dark wood PLA filament, with a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.1mm layer height, and with ironing.
For the blade I used Eryone 2 color silk PLA (for an iridescent effect).
My blade was kinda light. So, to get it to drop nicely, I had to add a tiny amount of silicone lubricant to the wood slides.
