Chebyshev Amoeba Wheel is wheel-like mechanism based on Chebyshev linear linkage. The wheel was invented by Fumio Imai. The application of this wheel in some vehicle can give more friction than classical wheel because it has larger contact area with surface.
The model is constructed from several parts, including 3D printed nuts and bolts.
I strongly recommend test print of nut and bolt to test correct printer setting in your environment. Although there are some tolerances, I made them by testing in my environment (Bambu Lab P1P) and that tolerances may not work in your conditions.
As an alternative, you can use some purchased M5 Nuts and Bolts of appropriate lengths, as described later.
Printing instructions:
I printed all parts from PLA with 0.4mm nozzle:
Layer height 0.2mm
No supports
Infill 15 %
2 perimeters
2 bottom and 5 top layers
No Brim
Parts list:
Parts
1x AW Central Rod
8x AW Connection Rod
8x AW Side Part
Bolts and Nuts (in case you want to print them)
8x AW Bolt M5x40mm
8x AW Nut M5x5mm
2x AW Bolt M5x18.5mm with excentric
2x AW Handle 15mm with M5x4mm thread
Bolts and Nuts to purchase (in case you don't want to print them)
8x M5x40mm Bolt
8x M5 Nut
2x M5x18mm Bolt
Assembly Instructions:
Connect four Connecting Rods to one side of Central Rod using Bolt M5 18.5mm with excentric or purchased Bolt M5x18mm. The hole on tne excentric should match center of Central Rod.
Connect four Connecting Rods to opposite side of Central Rod using Bolt M5 18.5mm with excentric or purchased Bolt M5x18mm. The hole on tne excentric should match center of Central Rod.
Now you have to connect free end of each Connecting Rod to two Side Parts
For connecting use 8x Bolt M5 40mm and M5 Nuts (printed or purchased)
Connect first Connecting Rod and two Side Parts
Connect another Side Part and Connecting Rod from opposite side of Central Rod
Connect all remaining Connecting Rods and Side Parts. Be careful to alternate Connecting Rods from left and right side of Central Rod.
If you used Bolt M5 18.5mm with excentric in step 2, Add two pieces of Handle 15mm with M5 x 4mm thread to excentric.
