Montage
Press hex nut into Back and mount to sliding door with wood screws. Add rubber band and Latch before mounting the Cover with the M4 screw. The rubber band is attached to the horizontal bar of the Back, goes over the Latch and back down to the bar. This way, it constantly pulls down the Latch. Adjust the position of the Counterpart to the rest of the lock before mounting it to the door post.
Function
The Latch is gripping into the counterpart as in a usual configuration but also performs a sideways motion and slips under an additional notch of the Counterpart. This notch prevents that the latch can simply be lifted to open the lock. The door lock can be opened from outside by pushing the latch back before lifting it. From inside, use the small lever to do a similar motion.
You might wonder why anybody needs such a lock: Well, we need to lock our kitchen door so our kid can't make a mess (has special needs). Other implementations could be baby-proofing your home or an animal shed.
