Parametric Screw-Top Container (PSTC) - Set of 25 + 5 Bonus!

I've been trying to get a good handle on a parametric design models.  I think I got it under control now.  Always helps to have a good problem to solve.

Simply put, edit the input parameters in Fusion360 (.f3g is attached below), and the model will reconfigure based on your new dimensions.

Configure to your heart's content!

For this design, I started with the objects I wanted to contain and built from there.

I needed 30mm x 120mm.

Your model will be rebuilt with the updated dimensions.  

Then print away.

Configuration Instructions:

• Import Parametric Screw-Top Container.f3d into Fusion 360.

• Edit the user-editable fields under Change Parameters (Menu: Modify > Change Parameters).

• Each time you edit, the software begins computation on the new instructions. Depending on your computer, this can take a few seconds.  Fusion360 isn't great with progress feedback.  Assume 3-10 seconds for each change in value.

• That's it! Have fun.

• I did take a few steps to protect you from tripping yourself up — be reasonable with input values. To help guide you, I added some range information in the Comments on the dialog.

Print Instructions:

• Print with 3 perimeters, 10% infill (gyroid is recommended), .15mm layer height, no supports needed.

• I prefer PETG prints but has been tested successfully with PLA, PLA+, and PETG filaments.

• Orientations: (see: Print-Orientations.jpg)

  • PSTC WhatINeeded 30mm x 120mm - Top.stl - Invert - top surface should be on the build plate.

  • PSTC WhatINeeded 30mm x 120mm - Bottom.stl - As imported.

Assembly Instructions:

1. Uh… twist them together.

2. Profit?

“Good” Examples:

• A container to hold your old 45-Single Records!  [Wikipedia]

• #2 Pencil [Wikipedia] holder.  You are guaranteed to ace every test you take with a pencil contained within. This is on the internet - so it is, by law, true?  Good luck.  If you can find a pencil.

I included a 25 models if you just want to print something and don't have the need to learn Parameters in Fusion360.

Each print takes two (2) files.  Top and Bottom.  Make sure you pick the correct pair. 

Remember the size of the final PSTC will be 8mm taller and 8mm wider than the dimensions specified.  I sized the PSTC for the object it will contain.

I also included the Pencil Holder, Record Tote, and what I needed in the first place. 

Change Log:

• 2025-12-05: Updated the upper/lower bound math in my calculations for wall thickness at the thread sections. 

• 2025-08-10: Updated the minimum wall thickness from 3mm to 3.5mm.  I've been testing the corner cases, and printing these ALL THE TIME.  Medications for travel.  Fountain pen.  And, if you print one with crazy thick walls, 10-15mm, it is surprisingly good at keeping temps stable inside.

• 2024-06-18: TallHoff (50mm x 250mm) and SquatHoff (75mm x 75mm) Custom models added.

• 2024-06-16: .f3d, .step, and .stl files are all designed to have a print tolerance of .125mm.  I've updated .f3d and .step this to a more common .250 for others.  Current models are high-tolerance prints.  They fit well, and snugly, but it may take a few screw/unscrew loops to smooth out the threads.
