I present Feathers McGraw. Not only is he the arch-villain in Wallace and Gromit, he also appears in the background of many other Aardman Animation works, including Chicken Run and many others.
Notes (explanations, creative options):
- Parts needing multiple copies:
- Print 3 of the red knob.
- Print 3 of the silver lever. One end goes into the red knobs, the other into the front of the remote.
- Print 9 of the blue buttons. They go into the 9 indents on the front of the remote.
- Push the antenna black base up the bottom of the antenna to the nut. You can put a drop of glue on it once it's close to the nut.
- The left and right studs go through the strap into the side of the remote.
- I didn't put an indent on the body for the glove. This allows Feathers to be printed without the glove if someone doesn't want it, and it allows some flexibility in the positioning of the glove.
- Print the belly with the convex (back) side down. This will hide the support pieces.
- Print the antenna horizontally. Use a deburring knife to remove the support marks.
- Some creative options:
- I haven't tested this, but printing the glove in TPU might give it a more rubbery look and feel.
- Similarly, printing the remote strap in TPU may make it more realistic and allow flexibility in positioning the remote.
- I didn't bother gluing the strap to the Feathers because it sits just fine without it.
- Feathers has cold, dead eyes, which I like. If you want to make them even more noticeable, it might work to use clear paint or polish on the eyes. They can stand out even more if you use matte filament for the body. I haven't done this, but it's just a thought that occured.
Please post makes and feedback! Enjoy Feathers (with his cute little dead eyes!)
